Pick of the Produce

I am a person that loves a good bargain. I am a “value” purchaser.

Any restaurant that resides INSIDE a small market is always going to be good. Yesterday, I took my friend David to Chavez Market to enjoy some tacos. I frequent this place because you get high quality, great tasting food for a reasonable price. It’s an added bonus that in addition to the good food, you get eat at some clean tables situated in between the refrigerated food section and the meat counter. I wasn’t totally sure why the product is of such high quality until David high-lighted the fact that any restaurant that is located in a market gets the “pick of the produce.” David is certainly a smart one. On top of the fact that these places get the pick of the produce, they are getting it a cheaper price, because they are buying way more product than your typical restaurant.

Also, I think that market based restaurants have much lower cost structures for real estate that other, more traditional restaurants. They don’t have pay for more expensive, high traffic, “she-she,” retail space and they only need to carve out a small corner of the restaurant to serve to the food.

My conclusion: restaurants inside markets result in good, high quality food at a relatively low price.
