A Holiday Letter for Everyone!

December 2004
Dear Friends, Family, Co-workers and Others,

Happy New Year, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa! 2004 turned out fine, if your definition of fine is being stuck in white trash Redwood City, living on a busy street, existing in a small drafty house that costs too much to heat, and struggling to make a decent wage in this “economic boom town” we call the Silicon Valley. What a joke that is.

Some friends of mine and I inherited an old Cadillac which seemed like a good idea when we got it, but it ended up creating a sink-hole of work and stress that none of us has counted on. The “best” story regarding the car was when this punk 20 year old tatooed women side-swiped it and attempted to escape unnoticed. In the end I caught up to her at her house a couple miles away and confronted her with what she had done. Instead of apologizing, she sicked her dog on me. People sure are special.

I got a new job in May at a small company in Palo Alto. I am now on my 4th job since business school. (What of waste of money that was.) It’s still a tough environment to sell in and I really hope our newly re-elected President (at least he won fair and square this time) does something to stimulate things on the home front. Speaking of the front, old Georgie sure has gotten us into a mess in the Middle East. Nice work. Good contribution to a smashing 2004, George ‘ol boy.

Recently we’ve begun to contemplate moving out of our fair town of Redwood City for greener pastures. Every time we mention moving, our friends threaten that they “will never visit us” if we were to move further than is convenient for them to drive, or they won’t visit us if our town of choice isn’t “cool” enough for them. Nice. Very nice.

I think the best piece of advice came from our close friends who recently moved to Mill Valley. They suggested that we join them in the North Bay, citing both the economic and racial “diversity” of Mill Valley, combined with the dearth of affordable housing. Thanks…good advice, I’ll get right on it.

So as you can see, 2004 has been pretty good. We hope to see you all in 2005 and we wish you and your family a Happy Holiday Season!

Sincerely,
Kro et al
